LWDF offers both medical and non medical mission teams. There is a team for everyone! You tell us your interest and we will find the best fit.
We organize two types of missions: – short term mission ( less than 14 days ) and long term mission ( at least 6 months) There are two types of mission team members: the non medical individuals are trained to cook, teach, and help the medical team perform a variety of projects. The medical personnel provide all sorts of actions in the medical field to help patients.
Certain immunizations are required prior to travel to Togo, West Africa. Here is a list of what we ask you to get, but we also highly encourage you to check with your healthcare provider or your local travel clinic for any additional recommendations. Your immunizations need to be given at least two weeks prior to your departure to Togo, but don’t wait until then – find out what you need and when, as soon as you commit to going. 1. However, it is not required for entry/re-entry into the United States. We suggest keeping it with you during travel. You will also need to get a prescription for anti-malarial medication as well as an antibiotic such as Ciprofoxacin.

We understand that in today’s world, safety while traveling internationally is a huge concern. We pride ourselves in the security measures we take to keep you safe! We have used the same drivers since the beginning of our project in Togo and would trust them with our lives. There are several precautionary measure we take, not because we have ever had any security issues, but because we always want to be on the offensive when it comes to safety – Travel in groups in white vans. – Security detail at our house in Lome. – Ability to utilize government security, if necessary – Security wall and gates around the living areas of the compound Please know that we are always kept up to date on situations around the globe and especially the area where we are traveling. If we ever feel like our missionaries were to be in danger, we would postpone/cancel a trip. The people in Togo have always been extremely welcoming of their missionaries and you will find that you will feel right at home!
We are in needs of physicians, surgeons ( orthopedics, general, etc.), and nurses to commit to at least a 6 months sabbatical to help. If you are interested, please contact us at info@lightintheworlddf.org
